I fell in love with wheatberries last winter when I stumbled across them in the bulk section of my grocery store. They are the whole kernals of the wheat plant, making them a whole grain. They are what is pulverized to make whole wheat flour. They take a while to cook – about an hour simmering on the stove – but you can reduce that by soaking them overnight first. I tend to make a big batch of them on the weekends, put them in a container in the fridge and then put them in oatmeal, salads or yogurt throughout the week. They are delightfully chewy! -Kath

Organic Hard Winter Wheat Berries Specifications
* Create many wheat berry sprout creations
* Use to make wheat grass, living pizza crusts or crackers.
* Sprouting: Soak seeds in a sprouting jar filled with water for 8 hours. Drain and rinse, then rinse 3 times per day for 2 days or until they have 1/4 inch tails (climate can affect sprout times). For growing wheat grass spread sprouts over a tray of high quality dirt. Keep berries covered in dark until sprouts are 2" high. You must mist sprouts and grass 3 or more times per day to reduce mold growth.
